BFI Švankmajer DVD in Czech media

I’m taking it on trust that this interview with me in Czech daily paper Hospodářské noviny does a reasonable job of conveying what I originally said in English…

Closer to home, more rave reviews of the Švankmajer DVD box have appeared in The Scotsman and Teletext, as well as today’s Metro (page 30) – though not, for some reason, the online version.

I can confirm that it is a glowing review (even though the content is not really discussed). It does, however, begin with typical Czech pessimism by pointing out that the DVD was “not produced by a Czech company” (“nevydala česká firma”).

Thanks for that – I got the hint that that might be a key angle from the prominence of the questions about whether or not the set would ever be released in the Czech Republic. Still, he went on to offer helpful advice about how to get it, and even converted pounds into crowns!
